I think I've always wanted to go to Brazil, but after reading an article in Juxtapoz about pixação, I was entirely sold on the idea. "Pixo or pixo-reto (straight pixo) is the result of doing “pixação”, a kind of graffiti/tag originating from Sao Paulo, (the biggest city in Brazil) that has existed since the early 80s." (Pixo & Confusion)
The youth who do this, pixadores, will scale massive buildings, and sometimes they fall, and sometimes they don't. They'll also invade apartments and galleries. There is a brilliant interview in the Brazil Issue of Juxtapoz, and I have it right here, but the rest of it is plastered on my wall so I will just leave you with these. In the pictures you will see the scale, and in the video you will see the expression.
A little note: this video is not in english. It's in Portuguese and has French subtitles, so in all honesty I only know a few words of what they are saying. But I don't need to know the language to see the disgust one man's voice after pixadores raid the gallery, and the tone another's voice as he talks about what he does. And yeah, I know it's long, but what the fuck do you have to do right now? Watch the whole thing (:
